Have you ever been stuck in front of your computer, wondering what your next article should be about? Writer’s block is not uncommon, even for Internet Marketers. Here are three great ways to beat the block and know what to write about next:
1. Check your server logs. Most web sites come with logs that will show you what keywords people typed into the search engines to find your web site (if yours doesn’t, a great free script-based log is Google Analytics). I’m often surprised at what shows up in the server logs. People often find my web sites for keywords I’ve never even written about, that the search engines feel it should rank for. So give the searchers what they want and create a new page around one of the keywords your site was found for.
2. Follow the news for your industry. Using an RSS reader is a great way to keep up with the news for your niche or industry. Scan the headlines for the day or the week and see what’s happening in the world. That can often trigger a good idea for your next article.
3. Ask your readers what they’re interested in. On your web site have a survey script that asks visitors what they would like to read about when they next return. Smart scripts can be designed to pop-up as a visitor is leaving your site so it won’t interfere with their browsing experience while they’re there.
There are a lot of easy ways to get past your writer’s block and discover your next article. Hopefully one of the above ideas will work for you, or has at least triggered your own great idea!
